Sonja Mulabdic is a Vancouver-based artist specializing in illustration, graphic and web design. She grew up in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and came to Canada at the age of 22.

Sonja graduated from the Graphic Design and Illustration Program at Capilano College in 1999. After spending some time working in the design industry she decided to start her own business.

Fun, colourful and quirky sense of humor are common elements in her artwork and it really comes to light in The Gift of Odin, the first children's book she illustrated for Annick Press. Sonja likes to explore new mediums. She has experimented with pencil crayons, acrylics, water colours, digital, and collage but her current favourites are acrylics and water colours.

She finds her inspiration in nature, music, and her little niece. Artistic influences that had impact on her work are eclectic indeed. They include the likes of Walt Disney, Brian Froud, Zlatko Grgic with cartoon Professor Baltazar, Guido Mauli with cartoon Stripy and many others.

As a child, she enjoyed going through neighbourhood basements with a friend and caring for stray puppies and kittens or picking herbs with her dad. When she isn't designing and illustrating, she can be found doing yoga, painting, meditating or making crafts.

Some of her clients include: Annick Press, BC Dairy Foundation, Science World British Columbia, Ideas That Play, EdQuest Interactive Corp., Purple Pirate, Creative Peace Network, and My Body My Choices.
